Forgive others as God forgives you

As a teenager I remembered all of the people that I felt had wronged me over the years. Some were acquiantances and others were close family members. I didn’t know how to let go of those negative feelings and I would just wake up in a bad mood.

I couldn’t see why I should forgive others. I didn’t know how I was forgiven. It is so important to forgive others as God forgives us. Remember that Matthew 6:14 says: For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

Don’t know that verse? Try the verses below.

These verses in the bible

I have compiled some of my favorite “forgiveness” related verses here. Due to not being perfect there are still times where I forget myself and get upset. We all get upset but it is how we handle our anger and how long we stay upset. Anyways here is the list:

Anyone you forgive, I also forgive. And what I have forgiven – if there was anything to forgive- I have forgiven in the sight of Christ for your sake 2 Corinthians 2:10

If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.” John 20:23 (I put this verse here to remind me that when I don’t forgive then I am also not forgiven)

Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. Colossians 3:13

And finally:

And when yuo stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.” Mark 11:25

How to find Jesus

God wants us to find our way! He does not want for us to stay lost, depressed, angry, or any other place that lacks his presence. If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. (1 John 4:15) How then do we find the Son of God? Just as 1 John 4:15 says! We must acknowledge him.

Why is it so important to speak it? It is important to speak and declare the Jesus is Lord out loud because as Matthew 15:18 states, “but the things that come out of a person’s mouth come from the heart, and these defile them.” (Emphasis added)

I have found Jesus many times over and have asked for forgiveness many times over. I remember sitting in the hospital bed while they were trying to figure out why I was having seizures. I was reading my NIV Beautiful Word Coloring Bible, Hardcover and studying the guidelines of the The Ultimate Guide to the Daniel FastSide note: The two products that I linked are some that I personally enjoy. The bible is fun and comes with doodling pages while the Daniel’s Fast Guide has recipes and devotions. There are a plethora more to choose from!

As I was reading my bible I noticed that seizures had a printing mistake on it. I was overwhelmed because of all the bibles my bible shows that seizures is no more!! Instead of holding onto bitterness and hate I decided, again, that I needed to forgive.

How to forgive

In order to forgive we must learn what forgiveness is. Forgiveness is not merely stating that you forgive but it is an action you take. You can forgive by no longer being angry, by being kind, and by showing love. Remember: God wants us to forgive so that we can feel the blessing of being forgiven.

Can you remember a time when you decided to forgive? How about a time when you decided against forgiving someone? What’s the difference in how you felt?
