For the entire law is fulfuilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Galatians 5:14
Application to life:
How can we fulfill the entire law? Just as Galatians 5:14 says: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Now we get into the how to love your neighbor as yourself. There are just some hard to love neighbors aren’t there? Changing perspective is a must here because when we start to doubt that our neighbors can be loved we are saying that we deserve this love.
God had given his perfect son in order for us to live. Jesus saved us because he loves us. All he asks is that we love each other, not as we love him, but as we love ourselves. Why should we love as we love ourselves? Simply because we love ourselves the most! We don’t want any harm to come to us and avoid anything that goes against this.
A Worshipper’s Word:
There are times where our love for ourselves falls into muddy water. What I mean is that when we forget that we are children of God we seem to let ourselves listen to the lies of the enemy. Some lies that may sound familiar: you are not worthy, they won’t like you, you don’t deserve (fill in with the rest of the lie).
You are worthy because God gave his son for you to live (John 3:16). Whether they like you or not, you are a child of God (you know the creator of all things), as a child of God you don’t need to worry about anything (Philippians 4:6). Finally it is not about whether we deserve it or not but that God’s grace has provided for us. We continue to fall short of the glory of God and by his GRACE we are able to see through our weakness to his perfect power (2 Corinthians 12:9).
