Intercessory Prayer Warriors

I’m so excited to share this with you guys!! I know some amazing intercessory prayer warriors (for those unfamiliar with the word, intercessor, it is someone who prays on behalf of someone else) and I have been given the amazing opportunity to be able to partner with them to pray with those who are submitting requests!

group prayer

So here is a little about 5:17 Prayer Ministries: Founded off of the principles of 1 Thessalonians 5:17, “never stop praying,” the 5:17 Ministry has been able to pray and see God’s healing in action. This wonderful group is close-knit and takes prayer seriously! They believe in the healing words of Jesus and share scriptures that explain the importance of prayer.

Created in May 2017, the 517 Ministry has continued to grow and gain wonderful prayer partners to help pray for those asking for prayer.

Why is prayer important?

I would first like to say that Jesus spent much of his time in prayer. Jesus had an amazing relationship with God and it was not only due to he and God being one (John 10:30). Jesus spent time learning and gaining wisdom while still a child and continued to do so into his adult life (Luke 2:52). Prayer is a communication line with our creator and the more it is used the more we are aware of truth versus lies.

I’m going to sidetrack here with a story that I hope will continue to build upon my main point. Sheep

Sheep are very interesting animals. A sheep will stay with its herd and will flock together when they become frightened. By staying together their defensive power increases because it is unlikely that a predator will jump into a flock of sheep. Sheep have a strong “follow the leader” mentality and will follow whichever is deemed to be the “leader” (usually if one of them walks away then the rest will follow). If you search the web, you will be able to find sheep only listening to their shepherds voice. This is because sheep have a very good sense of memory and will remember the one who cared for them.

Now why did a throw in random facts about sheep (besides sheep being referenced in the bible)? A shepherd cares for and spends all day with his sheep. “The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice.” (John 10:3-5)

Wow! Isn’t that amazing? Imagine if the sheep did not listen to their shepherd though? What would happen if they followed the wrong leader? There was actually a case in 2006 that had been reported of over 400 sheep had passed away because they followed one that walked off a cliff.

By praying, among other activities, we are able to become more aware of our true Shepherd. When we know the truth the enemy will continue to lie to us but we will know better than to believe it. Prayer allows us to gain an advantage against our enemy because we are not giving him the chance to fool us. We become warriors because we are stepping in for each other and letting the enemy know that he can not shake us.

Can I pray for others?

Absolutely! Being an intercessor does not require any type of degree. By praying for others we are interceding for them and, just as Matthew 18:20 says, “for where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”

If you are looking to submit a prayer request, or join a community of intercessors, you can go to Prayer Requests and leave your request at the bottom. These requests will not be shown as I take into account that some may be very personal.
Another way to join is to visit the 517 Ministry Facebook page.
