Woman with a headache

I’ve thought about what I do when I’m down several times recently. The reasons, what I do to get out of the bad mood and how to keep myself from getting into such a sad place. I realized that there are several characteristics each time I’m feeling down.

Being Hard on Myself

As said by Thales, “the most difficult thing in life is to know yourself.” Often times we judge ourselves more critically than others and we tend to use this as the foundations to why certain situations happen. Reasons that don’t have anything to do with the negative aspects we see in ourselves. The best way to get out of the negative cycle of putting ourselves down is to read the truth about us.

“The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.” (Zephaniah 3:17) God loves us so much that he delights in us and will rejoice over us with singing! Have you ever had someone sing because they love you so much?

The truth is that God sent his son so that we can be saved. He knows that we are not perfect and does not expect for us to be. He simply wants us to know that Jesus is Lord and to trust in his words.

Sleep and Health

A big one but often the last on my list! I have a bad habit of working while sick and by doing this I don’t give my body enough time to rest and recover. When I have a goal I tend to put my health and sleep on the back burners in order to achieve my goal as quickly as possible. Hard work and perseverance is very important but if we are not sleeping and not taking care of our bodies how are we going to work hard and give our best?Vegetables with water splash

Having a set schedule and keeping to it helps me with sleep. I absolutely love using an hourly planner in order to keep me on track and to let me know how much time I am giving myself. The best part about this planner is that it allows you to write down priorities, tasks and a daily goal! By knowing what you want to achieve you can rest knowing that you tried your best!

For my health I try to eat a mixed variety of fruits and vegetables while drinking a lot of water. I am not the best with keeping track of how many cups of water I drink a day so I like larger water bottles. One of my favorites it the 40 ounce bottle that Hydro Flask makes because it is insulated and very customizable! The lids, bottles and size can all be customized so that you have the bottle you want. I also like that my water doesn’t have the metallic taste because it is a pro grade metal.

Life, Work and Balance

It is so important to have balance between life and work. With my personality I am very much all in to whatever it is that I am doing. Either I am all work or I am all life. I have learned through the years that when I don’t have balance between the two I will end up wearing myself down.

When working I like to do my best, regardless of the job, I believe that by doing my best I am accomplishing a goal for that day. When we go to work and assume that the day will be filled with hardships and negativity then our days will be filled that way. By going to work with the mindset that you will do your best, even on a rough day, you will go home knowing you did your best.

By balancing our days with work and life we will not run ourselves out on either one. Life is fun and work is, well, work but too much of a good thing is not always good (remember to many carrots can turn you orange).

The Power of Positive Words

Before going on I want to let you know how much I appreciate that you have gotten to this point in this article. I am so glad that you are still here and want to let you know that you are so completely loved! Now, God is amazing at telling us exactly what we need when we need it. The Lord is full of positive words and the true power of positive words is astounding!

When we speak to ourselves and to others by using the positive instead of the negative we can truly change our outlook. I had read the book The Positive Dog and was blown away with the drastic change of just changing certain words in my vocabulary. I had done a book study on The Positive Dog and after reading the first chapter I had already noticed the changes in my life!

How to Find Your Purpose in Life with God

Path with sun lightAll I have to say about purpose is Jeremiah 29:11. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” I had felt lost and alone and everything seemed to fall apart as I was planning to get divorced. I didn’t feel that I deserved to even step into a church because my life was in shambles. A God who knows the plans he has for me and a God who plans to give me hope and a future.

Not matter what season I was in God had already known where I was going. I describe that time as my winter months: cold and barren. Where I am currently at would be my spring: overflowing with wonder and a sweet breeze on my face. I found my purpose by being faithful and by trusting God.
